Thanks for this, for your comments about using inappropriate language, AND for your latest excerpt. FIrst time I heard my mother swear was when she was having trouble parallel parking. "Damnation!" she muttered. I was ten. I recycled that scene more than 50 years later in my novel Elephant Lake.john M. I've been accused of having "the mouth of a sailor" so I'm not "allergic" to profanity in life or in novels and I definitely think there are times when it's called for. When a simple "Darn it" just won't do. <br />As you wrote, when someone gets angry or frustrated, certain words may pop out of their mouth. The funniest example I can think of is my mother who never uses cuss words. One day, I went to pick her up and, as I sat in my car at the end of her long driveway, I heard the F word clear as day. She was having a problem getting her door to lock and she was irritated. I couldn't believe my ears! I don't think I've ever laughed as much in my life.Patricia Gligor's Writers Forumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16801554698484928100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-699981774111452762.post-62077286299243925742013-10-05T13:25:40.954-07:002013-10-05T13:25:40.954-07:00I always loved your 99 word challenges!I always loved your 99 word challenges!Mythloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15571141628739889771noreply@blogger.com
